Triple Boot Ubuntu/Vista/XP - No Go So Far
Blog Ubuntu (Grub) correctly saw that there were two bootable Windows partitions on the disk, and both Vista and Ubuntu booted correctly, but when I tried to boot the XP partition, it actually started to boot Vista but then complained that the boot...

Triple Boot Ubuntu/Vista/XP - No Go So Far
Blog Comment Moley, I've just set up a dual-boot Vista/Ubuntu disk from scratch, and confirmed what I said previously. I loaded Vista first, then Ubuntu; GRUB recognized the Vista partition and set it up to boot, using the Vista boot loader, and added an entry...

Triple Boot Ubuntu/Vista/XP - No Go So Far
Blog Comment My experience has been a bit different, in that I had no trouble getting GRUB to boot Vista, when I installed VIsta first and then Ubuntu. On the other hand, my experience has been the same as yours, in that I am perfectly happy with Ubuntu/XP dual...

Triple Boot Ubuntu/Vista/XP - No Go So Far
Blog Comment It may be also possible to install the OS's in a different order and then recover the Vista boot loader, for instance, using a late Vista Beta installation disk or a borrowed retail or OEM Vista installation disk, this I have also done in order to...

Triple Boot Ubuntu/Vista/XP - No Go So Far
Blog Comment I finally installed XP as my main OS as a Christmas present to myself so it's over 6 months since I tried all the double and triple boot scenarios and even an attempted quadruple booting scenario with Vista, XP, Ubuntu and SuSe.

Why I've Moved From Vista To Ubuntu 7.10
Blog Comment There is probably one other thing, after vista has booted a few times it tries to get itself sorted, whenever you aren't using the cpu or ram you aren't using, its usually looking at it self, seeing what it can do to speed up, in fact after a...

ThinkPad X60 Rejuvenated!
Blog No dual-boot option here, just the full 'use entire disk' setting during the Ubuntu 7.10 install. My poor old 512MB ThinkPad X60, which had a happy early life running Windows XP but then suffered a crippling attack of Windows Vista, has now been...

Why I've Moved From Vista To Ubuntu 7.10
Blog Comment Everything worked fine from boot, and Ubuntu even automatically set my computer up to dual boot, so I can choose Linux or Windows right after I turn on the machine. Ubuntu also runs faster, looks nicer than the new Vista Aero desktop, and uses FAR...

Why I've Moved From Vista To Ubuntu 7.10
Blog Comment So, since I have been playing around with linux distros for a while but never really got the feeling that they would convince me to switch and never look back, I took my laptop to the test and installed ubuntu 7.04 (feisty fawn).

Ubuntu On Fujitsu Lifebook S6510
Blog It took about 5 minutes to boot the CD and answer the few questions that come up, then about 15 minutes to actually load Ubuntu and reboot, and finally another 10 minutes to download and install all the updates.

Why I've Moved From Vista To Ubuntu 7.10
Blog Comment It is not necessary to make up BS about Vista just to make Ubuntu look good. Ubuntu has real merits. Overall, the system is a pleasure to use, and this takes absolutely NOTHING away from the goodness of Ubuntu and Mac OS X.

Vista SP1 Installed, Working OK So Far
Blog I have also installed Ubuntu 8.04.1 (Hardy Heron), and Mandriva Spring 2008, so I have a three-way boot selection now. I'm not getting my hopes up too high yet, because this was basically the way it looked the last time I tried it, until it...

Good Reason Not To Use Vista
Talkback I tend to use Ubuntu a lot for development and like having a dual boot config on my machine. Service pack 1 should have sorted out the mess but instead has provided vary little and just made it all worse by trashing peoples dual boot configurations.
