Counting The Cost Of Counterfeiting

Talkback As the the WGA programme, on some of the forums I've visited, people have been moaning that their genuine copies of Windows have started popping up messages - often because the PC has been returned to the manufacturer or warranty partner under...

Microsoft Offers WGA Workaround

Talkback Yet, Microsoft's workaround will not remove its latest spyware parading under the WGA misnomer. Let no spin prevaricator tell you otherwise: the Notification tool included in Microsoft's WGA to surreptitiously monitor user's computer operations is...

Not All Unlicensed Windows Copies Are Used By People With Eye Patches

Talkback However, I had a friend that legitimately bought a PC from an independant store (and paid way over the odds for the shoddy hardware they gave her) and the version of windows wasn't valid and so she couldn't do windows updates because of WGA.

Finally My Last Words On XP SP3, (yeah Right, You Hope So!)

Software Jihad

Blog They have had over 3 years now to perfect the WGA crap and it should be “weaponized” and targeted on the software pirates world-wide. I've been reading an article/blog over at CNN talking about the Chinese lawyer that has filed suit on Microsoft...

Software Jihad

Blog Comment The 2002 version came with a really annoying WGA-like installation applet that just would not let you use the program at all until it was registered, that really pissed me off at the time. Install WIndows Search 4.0 and Google desktop at the same...

Microsoft's Pre-modern Message Puts A New Face On Vista

Blog Comment WGA immediately comes to mind! Currently the workstation is a Core 2 Duo running XP Pro with 3 GB ram and another XP Pro system with an Athalon 2000XP, 2 GB of ram, running SQL Server 2005. As to your comment about componentised XP, that's what XP...

Microsoft Offers WGA Workaround

Talkback I have many OEM copies running, and a few "genuine" boxed copies of XP pro. NONE of them have passed validation. If Windows was more like $50 or $70 per copy, more people would be glad to purchase a copy.
