Chipmakers Stop Wi-Fi Sales To China
Talkback I think that all of the WiFi suppliers should tell China that they are not interested in selling WiFi in their country under a different standard. This would force the Chinese to back down. It is difficult for them to develop this internally and...

Rupert Goodwins' Diary
Talkback The recent article on WiFi just prompted me to inform you of the WiFi experiences I have had over the last year: My Nokia Brick gets WiFi better than a laptop but on my boat (where I wish I could be all nearly the time) in Newcastle upon Tyne, a...

An Impressive Week With Ubuntu
Blog Next I wanted to see if the WiFi connection would work with my home network. I found the hardware management window, and according to that, there were only a few "problems" - the built-in softmodem required a proprietary driver which had not been...

Does O2 Do EDGE?
Talkback So 70% of the UK don't have EDGE -- so can't get e-mail or web browsing on an iPhone without a personal WiFi network -- so would do better with the bottom of the range Nokia (that can get e-mail over the "plain old telephone system").

Traveling Success With Linux
Blog Comment I promise you, I didn't download or add anything to get WiFi connections working on Ubuntu and Kubuntu (both Hardy Heron 8.04.1). As for Mandriva, it was every bit as easy to set up the WiFi, and it works just as well.

Schools Panic Over WiFi
Blog Comment As with so many things, this is confounded by the fact that most people appear to have no negative response whatsoever to WiFi radiation - but similarly most people don't react negatively to Penicillin, yet you would not give that to someone with...

Alternative Mobile Devices
Talkback It has Skype and WiFi, so I need Mobile connectivity via WiFi or a GPRS datalink (GPRS is much too expensive). I already have a notebook /Laptop which I use as a Mobile phone at home. Really its more like a DECT phone but cheaper.

SightSpeed To Announce Linux Version
Blog It looks like they are trying to make it as easy as they have already done with WiFi networking. Assuming that succeeds, you can then have a really portable video calling system - no more running around looking for an adequate WiFi hotspot.

Member Review WiFi: The settings and network selection are not user friendly. Wifi connection is not quite stable when used in power conservation mode, otherwise it is stable and fast. Skype: If the WiFi is reliable the sound quality is very good.

Is Your World Still Flat?
Talkback The other FON users accessing your HomeHub do so on what is, in essence, a VLAN with a seperate WiFi channel and, I believe, seperate IP addressing schema. I would hope that before these comments were posted a quick check of the BT site was made...

Better Phones Required
Talkback I would buy the fusion wifi offering if better phone choice was available, specifically the choice of Nokia devices. I also don't see why I should pay (even 1 minute) for a phone call when it is using wifi.
