Windows XP SP3 Installed

Blog Overall I am very happy with the S6510 running XP since my latest retreat from Vista last week. Moreover, they have not only held back XP SP3, they have also stopped Vista SP1 from Automatic Download (again) for the same reason.

Status Update, Vista To XP Retreat (Advance?)

Blog It has been two weeks since I switched from Windows Vista back to Windows XP Professional on my Fujitsu Lifebook S6510, and two months since I made the same switch on my Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S2110.

Status Update, Vista To XP Retreat (Advance?)

Blog Comment Look at how many people, and business, are still running Windows 2000, and there were compelling reasons and advantages in upgrading to XP; without any such obvious advantages in upgrading to Vista, the percentage who "stay behind" is likely to be...

XP SP3 Is Sick Puppy 3, Stupid Patchwork 3, Stupendous Pain-in-the-A__ 3

Blog It should not require all of the effort I and others in the company have had to expend to make a volume license image of XP Pro work with SP3. Worker droid status in the Zombie armies of the Internet is the ultimate fate of all of the 500 to 600...

Linksys WRT350N Wireless-N Gigabit Router With Storage Link

Blog It is worth noting that while Windows Vista has WPA2 security included, it has not yet been made a standard part of Windows XP. You have to download and install Windows XP update KB917021 to add WPA2 support.

Marketing Mush

Blog I was a little dismayed to see that they think the best way to use Windows (any version back to and including XP) is to have the system come up from "sleep" mode. I was also dismayed that most of the discussion seemed to be centered on Vista and...

Ya Need XP Service Pack 3? Yeah Buddy. I Got Ya Servicepack3 Right Here!

Blog Comment They were pulled off the SP3 project probably 3 or 4 years ago and told they needed to help with Vista. Now they are back trying to catch up on XP but something got through the net. To use "Micro-Speak", the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for XP...

Spoke Too Soon About XP SP3?

Blog Comment Incidentally, I only installed XP Pro SP2 on 23rd December as a downgrade from Vista Home Premium. In conclusion, It appears that if I wish to Install XP SP3 at any time in the future, I will have to do a clean install unless MS can fix whatever...

Microsoft's Mojave Just A Desert Vista

Blog Comment Microsoft studies have shown that Windows Vista users are 60% less likely to be infected by malware than users running Windows XP SP2. I don't meant to nit-pick but considering that Service pack 2 for XP was released just over 4 years ago, I wonder...

A Few Minor Windows XP Glitches

Blog As I expect Vista SP1 to be available soon, and XP SP3 not long after that, I suppose I will be playing "disc jokey" with my laptop again before long. These problems are occurring now, with the laptop running XP Professional.

XP SP3 Problems

Talkback How quick and easy it is to install Linux compared to XP or Vista, and how quick it is to boot up each time. I have installed Ubuntu on my XP SP3 computer using Wubi (installs in the Windows partion without needing to partition the disk) and it...

... But Still A Few Things Amiss (with Vista)

Blog Comment All this giving 'Vista another chance' was great when I didn't have a system already set up which does everything I want it to, but wasting hours reconfiguring an installation only to find out there isn't a driver or something is less robust than...

Gartner: Ignore Vista Until 2008

Talkback I do agree with your main point, though; Vista isn't a super-patched version of XP. XP is NT 5.1, 2003 is NT 5.2, and Vista is NT 6.0. People who think it's just XP SP3 or XP with a new face are quite wrong.
