Lifebook S6510 - Part 3; Networking, Software And Drivers
Blog I'm planning to write one more time about Vista and XP, making a side-by-side comparison of the S2110, now running very nicely with XP Professional, and the S6510 with Vista. There is practically nothing on the Fujitsu support web site for it; a...

Vista Vs. XP: The Final Retreat
Blog So, I spent the morning putting back in the disk with XP Pro, which I had swapped out at the beginning of this month when I got Vista SP1 to install. XP. My Fujitsu Lifebook S6510 is running Windows XP Professional again, and I have no intention of...

A Few Minor Windows XP Glitches
Blog As I expect Vista SP1 to be available soon, and XP SP3 not long after that, I suppose I will be playing "disc jokey" with my laptop again before long. These problems are occurring now, with the laptop running XP Professional.

Status Update, Vista To XP Retreat (Advance?)
Blog It has been two weeks since I switched from Windows Vista back to Windows XP Professional on my Fujitsu Lifebook S6510, and two months since I made the same switch on my Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook S2110.

More Pleasant Surprises With Ubuntu
Blog Then I kept finding more and more problems, until they finally became so serious that I had to give up and go back to XP. If all of that works, I'll keep Ubuntu on that one, and swap the S2110 back to the Windows XP Pro disk.jw 3/6/2008

Thoughts On Windows Driver Updates
Blog By that I mean, for example, that for my S6510, Fujitsu has driver lists for Vista and XP. Maybe, but that's not the only difference, and in some cases they use the same driver, and it has been updated in the Vista list and not in the XP list!

Wireless-N Networking And Linux
Blog With Windows XP Professional, it detects both, connects to the Wireless-N network with no problem using WPA2 security, and gives speeds ranging from 300 Mb/sec to 108 Mb/sec. After installing a new Netgear Wireless-N Dual Band Router (review), I...

Wireless Network Flakiness
Blog One was the difficulty getting Vista to connect consistently, but I wrote that off as a Vista problem, and since I reverted to XP Professional anyway, it didn't bother me. As I mentioned a few months ago, after returning from the U.S.with my new...

Vista - Is It Some Sort Of Drug?
Blog Last night I decided that I probably had enough time to do that, so I swapped the XP drive out and the Vista drive in, and booted up the Fujitsu Vista Recovery DVD. I can't put my finger on it; it's not only the "Aero" user interface, and it's...

Maybe Vista Really Is Getting Better
Blog I am still primarily using Linux, and only run Windows during my morning and evening commute, but I will at least continue to run Vista rather than XP for a while, and see how it goes.jw 8/8/2008 This might be wishful thinking.

Vista SP1 - Now Installed And Running
Blog I copied all of my photographs from the XP disk to a Freecom USB drive, which took a bit less than 15 minutes. It then jumped all over the place with its estimate of "time remaining", but in the end it actually took about 15 minutes - the same as...
