SP3 Under Suspicion Again

Blog I find myself suspecting that there is something very strange wrong with Windows XP SP3, or at least with the installation procedure for it. I had been running this Fujitsu Lifebook S6510 with Windows XP Professional for several months when SP3...

Windows XP SP3 - I'll Join The Chorus

Blog However, as I have now decided to permanently configure the S6510 as a dual-boot Ubuntu/XP system, and the current XP installation has started to show the typical signs of flakiness that inevitably arise after Windows has had sufficient time to...

Windows XP SP3 Installed

Blog I have downloaded and installed Service Pack 3 for Windows XP Professional on my Fujitsu Lifebook S6510. Overall I am very happy with the S6510 running XP since my latest retreat from Vista last week.

Service Pack 3 OR Surprise Package 3?

Blog You've probably already read some of the interesting issues brought about by installing SP3 on your up-to-date XP Pro SP2 system. In an effort to avoid some of those issues I downloaded the entire ISO and installed that on my last personal Windows...

XP SP3 Is Sick Puppy 3, Stupid Patchwork 3, Stupendous Pain-in-the-A__ 3

Blog To build the image we will deploy into the rental fleet, we'll take our XP SP1 volume license image with the slip-streamed SP2 files on it and update that with the required 99+ "security patches". Checked on Sick Puppy and he had a security update...

Finally My Last Words On XP SP3, (yeah Right, You Hope So!)

Blog First test to be sure that your Windows XP Pro image has all the things you want in them and that they worked like you needed them to. We slip-streamed SP2 onto a volume licensed SP1 install CDROM image of Windows XP Pro.

Ya Need XP Service Pack 3? Yeah Buddy. I Got Ya Servicepack3 Right Here!

Blog In other words, we're talking a system that has absolutely nothing installed on it except what Microsoft would call the baseline Windows XP Pro SP2 operating system image. I just finished installing a volume license of Windows XP Pro with...

Ya Need XP Service Pack 3? Yeah Buddy. I Got Ya Servicepack3 Right Here!

Blog Comment Now they are back trying to catch up on XP but something got through the net. To use "Micro-Speak", the TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for XP just went up for everybody that has been applying ISOs or approved and managed patches to SP2 prior to SP3.

The Third Strike Finally Landed. Debbie Got Hit.

Blog My daughter's Windows XP Pro system has a dead hard drive but that was only a matter of time, it has a Hitachi DeathStar PATA drive in it and and it was one I resurrected from the trash at work. I fixed my son's XP machine last week and it seems to...

When Isn't A File Write Permission? When Its SP3?

Blog I've been working a lot lately on a project that as part of its functionality writes over or deletes files in a sub-folder in the Program Files folder in Windows XP Pro. The OS image starts out as a ghost image, that was a SP3 slipstreamed volume...

Ya Need XP Service Pack 3? Yeah Buddy. I Got Ya Servicepack3 Right Here!

Blog Comment Contrary to so many of the comments on ZDNet and elsewhere, I have installed XP SP3 successfully on a number of computers including ones with AMD Athlon processors and heavily skinned computers, Flyakite 3.5 (A Mac lookalike) for instance.

Thankfully, It Worked For Me

Talkback I installed XP SP3 on my Lifebook S2110, which has an AMD Turion 64 CPU, with no problems. Whew. After what I have been through with Vista on the Lifebook S6510 (and the S2110, for that matter, although not as much), I would have been really...

Spoke Too Soon About XP SP3?

Blog Comment Further to my comments above, I have just successfully installed XP SP3 on a heavily skinned (Mac Lookalike) XP SP2 computer without any apparent problems. From the screens that became available, I was able to see that a CD of XP SP3 can be ordered...

A Few Minor Windows XP Glitches

Blog As I expect Vista SP1 to be available soon, and XP SP3 not long after that, I suppose I will be playing "disc jokey" with my laptop again before long. These problems are occurring now, with the laptop running XP Professional.

Microsoft Monopolising On Web Browsers Again??

Talkback So if you upgrade to XP SP3 you can't uninstall Internet Explorer, I'm quite sure I'm having a Deja-vu feeling about MS preventing people from uninstalling Internet Explorer in other Windows products.

Ronald Jones

Talkback As a home user using XP Pro SP2 there is no reason to update the operating system unless it's for fun {expensive} I await SP3. Then all your XP books will have to be "renewed" to learn how to use VISTA and gain the "advantages" this system...

Spoke Too Soon About XP SP3?

Blog After putting our collective noggins together we guessed that the mystery release could be the long awaiting update to XP - service pack 3. Yesterday (19.02.08), we released Windows XP SP3 RC 2 to the Microsoft Download Center.

XP SP3 Problems

Talkback I'm surprised not to see an news item or feedback about the difficulies some people are having with XP SP3 failing to install satisfactorily, or at all. I have installed Ubuntu on my XP SP3 computer using Wubi (installs in the Windows partion...

... But Still A Few Things Amiss (with Vista)

Blog Comment Windows XP SP3 does everything I need and more, its faster, more effiicient with existing hardware- has a mature driver base going back to 2000, so if you want to connect a piece of kit you can generally find a driver.

Status Update, Vista To XP Retreat (Advance?)
